Divorce and Family Law

Family Law

Whether and how to end your marriage is a decision only you can make.  My job as an attorney is to help you accomplish what you want to do, within the bounds of the law.

Sometimes, this will mean a divorce, which will mean that the court will divide any property that you and your spouse have accumulated together.  If you have children, the court will issue orders for their support.  Tax issues will  be decided also, at least including disposition of the current year's tax refund, if any.

Divorces are usually filed in the county where you or your spouse live, but sometimes people want to have their case heard in a different county.  This may be to avoid publicity, or for the convenience of witnesses, or for any number of other reasons.

Depending on how many cases are before the court, your divorce could be heard in a matter of weeks.  Kansas law requires a 60 day waiting period between the time your divorce is granted and the time you can marry someone else.

Because I take only a limited number of cases, I can assure you that your case will get the attention that it deserves.
