Municipal problems

Municipal Court

Most cities in Kansas have their own court system to deal with things like  traffic offenses, misdemeanors and city code compliance.  You may hear it called Municipal Court, Traffic Court or City Court.  These are real courts with real judges that decide real cases.  The procedure is often less formal than you might find in the District Courts, but the justice is the same.

Most cities rely on enforcement of traffic and parking laws for some portion of their revenue, so in Municipal Court, fines are the most common sentences handed down.  In some cases, particularly violent crimes,  municipal judges have the authority to sentence offenders to jail.

Any time you are are required to appear in a court of law, you will have serious decisions to make.  You need the best advice available.  The first step in getting that advice is to click on the "Contact RE Ramcharan, JD" link at the left side of this page.
